Hong Kong Heritage Museum - Inclement Weather Special Measures

  • Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above

    Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above

    • The Museum will remain closed if the signal is in effect before the Museum opens.
    • The Museum will close if the signal is issued during the opening hours.
    • The Museums will resume service within 2 hours if the signal is cancelled or lowered to Signal No.3 or below, and there are at least 3 hours or more before the normal closing time, and conditions permit. If less than 3 hours remain until closing, the Museum will remain closed.
    • "Extreme Conditions"

      "Extreme Conditions"*

      • The Museum will remain closed if "Extreme Conditions" are in effect before the Museum opens.
      • The Museums will resume service within 2 hours upon cancellation of "Extreme Conditions" if there are at least 3 hours or more before the normal closing time, and conditions permit. If less than 3 hours remain until closing, the Museum will remain closed.
      • If the Museum is already open, the opening hours may be subject to adjustment.
      (*In the case of severe disruption of public transport services, widespread flooding, severe landslides, or large-scale power outage caused by a super typhoon, the Government will announce "Extreme Conditions".)

      Black Rainstorm Warning

      • The Museum will remain closed until the warning is lifted if the warning is in effect before the Museum opens.
      • The Museum will remain open if the warning is issued during the opening hours.
      • The Museum will resume service within 2 hours if the warning is cancelled, and there are at least 3 hours or more before the normal closing time. If less than 3 hours remain until closing, the Museum will remain closed.

    Indoor programmes for parents and children, children, kindergartens#, primary schools#, special schools#, child centres, elderly centres and other similar organisations (including pre-booked group guided tours)

    • Ongoing programmes will be suspended.
    • If the above-mentioned weather condition(s) is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled.

    • Ongoing programmes will continue.
    • If the signal is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled.

    #If the Education Bureau announces class suspension, programmes for kindergartens, primary schools, special schools and secondary schools will be cancelled.

    Other indoor programmes (including pre-booked group guided tours)

    • Ongoing programmes will be suspended.
    • If the above-mentioned weather condition(s) is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled.

    • Ongoing programmes will continue.
    • If the warning signal is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled.

    • All programmes will proceed as scheduled.

    Outdoor programmes

    • Ongoing programmes may be suspended subject to actual weather conditions.
    • If the signal is issued or remains in force 3 hours before the commencement of the programmes, the programmes will be cancelled.
    • Due to variations in actual circumstances for each programme, please refer to the individual event details for special arrangements in inclement weather.

    Fee-charging programmes

    • Rescheduled or refund arrangements will be made for cancelled programmes.
    • Unless the Museum is closed due to inclement weather, the scheduled group visits of Free Admission will not be cancelled.
